Syracuse Improv is a grassroots effort to build a comedy and community scene that’s open, fun, and welcoming to everyone.
We believe improv is for everybody, whether you have never set foot on a stage or you have been doing bits in your head for years. Our events are designed to be easy to join, low-pressure, and full of laughter.
I usually have more hair than this, FYI.
Noah Chrysler - Instigator
Hey, I’m Noah. I started doing improv back in 2010 at Fayetteville-Manlius High School, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Over the past 15 years, I’ve trained at theaters in Rochester, Atlanta, Austin, and taken workshops in New York City. My background is diverse, but my sweet spot is scenic, game-based longform improv inspired by UCB.
Outside of the stage, I make YouTube videos, host podcasts, and do digital marketing stuff. I moved back to Syracuse in 2025 and was eager to reconnect with the local improv community, only to find it had largely imploded post-COVID.
If you were part of the Syracuse Improv Collective or Salt City Improv and you’re wondering “wtf is 'Syracuse Improv'?” - hey, hi, I did it. I bought the domain lmao. I know there’s a history here that goes back to the SU improv community. Back in high school, I even performed at a handful of your shows.
My intention with this group is simple: to re-ignite the Syracuse improv community. Come learn a little, perform a lot, and meet some fun weirdos.
Johnny Nolan - Co-Conspirator
I’m Johnny. I have been doing improv for over a decade now, and gosh, do I feel too young to have been doing anything for a decade. Comedy has always been a passion of mine and one that I want to share with everyone I can. No fancy training here, just clubs and community meet-ups. I’ve taught, I’ve performed, and I have learned a ton over the years.
Outside of improv, I am an electrical engineer by trade (one of the fun ones, I promise), I rock climb, and love nothing more than playing all sorts of games with friends. I am also the father of an amazing dog, Medli, and two cats, Rosie and Thera.
I started this with Noah because I feel the improv scene is a little empty in Syracuse. My goal is to create a space for comedians of all realms to perform and laugh together. So come on out and see what we have going on. All are welcome, and I can’t wait to see you there!
I'm not normally this spiffy, FYI.
